- [Instructor] The ACA exam will test your understanding of basic design vocabulary words so let's review some key terms. First, we'll talk about two basic types of digital images: raster and vector. Raster refers to the kind of digital images that are composed of a rectangular grid of pixels. And a pixel is the smallest unit with which Photoshop can define a single point of color. When you're working with pixel-based images in Photoshop, you're working with raster images. And raster images have resolution. Resolution is a measure of the density of pixels in a raster image. So an image that had a resolution of 600 pixels per inch would have a high density of pixels so it would be high resolution and appear much more detailed than say an image that had a resolution of 60 pixels per inch which would be considered low resolution.
