- [Instructor] Setting tabs goes back almost to the dinosaurs. Well, maybe not that far. But tabs provide us a way to accurately align text in a desirable way. There are a few rules that I'd like to share with you when working with tabs, and a few tricks as well, that will help you get more mileage out of using tabs and InDesign. And I'm starting here on this table of contents. And I'll go ahead and zoom in a little bit so we can see it a bit better. And, what I wanted to start with is, you'll notice that I've added a tab character wherever I want an alignment to occur. So, this particular table of contents, I want the page numbers to line up over here to the right, and I'd like to be able to adjust the distance between the chapter number in the text. So, my first rule of setting tabs is, only ever insert one tab character in a row, okay? That's very important. And the way that you do that, is simply, put your cursor…
