Simplifying complex text frames with tables

- InDesign tables don't always have to look like cell spreadsheets. And their unique characteristics can be used to help us solve layout problems for things that don't even look like tables. Here's an example. This is a design element used by a financial institution throughout all their collateral. It appears in hundreds of places. But the thing is, this interest rate has to be changed all the time. Problem is, if we look at how this was built, it's a veritable rat's nest of frames. I'm going to switch into normal mode here and now, let me get into that interest rate to select it. That's not it. I'll hold down the Command key to click through. That's not it. Wait, I got it. (sighs in relief) That was an awful lot of work. And it doesn't have to be. We can actually recreate this entire design element as a table and it'll be super easy to edit.
