Setting up and applying text cell styles

- Cell styles are really useful when it comes to speeding up the formatting of InDesign tables. Even if you never used table styles, you should learn how cell styles work and use them, because they can really speed things up for you. Let's take a look. I'm going to click in the first cell of this table by pressing the Escape key. Now there are some parallels to cell styles and character styles, but they are a little bit different. For one thing, cell styles are not truly neutral, whereas character styles really don't have any formatting in them. When I select this cell, notice that there's the cell style of None applied. However, if we look in the Control Panel, we can see that there's actually some formatting applied here. For one thing, there's a 1 pt stroke around the cell. It's black, and there's a fill of None. Let's create a cell style. I'm going to Option or Alt + click on the new style icon. And here we have our New Cell Style dialog. It looks kind of familiar. We have the…
