- [Narrator] So you've gone through all the trouble of making your code as clean and accessible as possible. How do you make sure that print-disabled readers, and the organizations that serve them, can find your content? If you ever think about ISBNs and bisect codes, then you already know the answer. Metadata. Simply put, metadata is the who, what, when, and where of your ebook. Items such as your title, author name, volume number, etc. are all types of metadata, and are what most retailers use to appropriately list and categorize your content. There is a full set of metadata that every single one of your ebooks should be carrying. Even content that doesn't have a single image. This is what that metadata looks like. Schema.org metadata is a set of properties used to define how users can access your content, or what hazards they might encounter.
