Positioning tables in a text frame
- We know that a table always lives inside a text frame. And if you have a standalone table, that's the only thing in your text frame, why you can just move the table in that frame around anywhere you want on your page. But if your table is in a text frame with text above and below the table, like our example here, it's important to understand how to control both the horizontal and vertical position of the table within the text frame. Let's take a look. I'm going to switch from Preview into Normal mode by pressing the letter W. And I'm going to switch to the Type Tool by pressing the letter T. Remember a table is like an inline object within this paragraph. And it's sitting on its own return character that you can see here in the lower right corner of the table. First, let's adjust the horizontal position of this table. It's jammed over to the left too much. In order to adjust the horizontal position of tables we actually use paragraph formatting commands.
