- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how to save a file as a template in InDesign. Here I have the beginnings of a digital magazine file. I have the cover page, a table of contents page, an article opener page, followed by some empty pages with just a set of linked text frames to hold the article text. I'll switch to the Typography workspace and show that they contain the colors and styles that we need to use in each issue of the magazine. There are my paragraph styles and my character styles. Now, if it was your job to lay out this magazine each month, you sure wouldn't want to start from scratch every time with a new blank document. Instead, you can save a huge amount of time and effort by saving this file as a template that you can reuse each month. To do that, I'll go to the File menu and choose Save As. And in Format, I'll choose InDesign template. And I'll save it on my desktop and click Save. So now I have my template file open. Notice that it was saved with the file extension…
