Letter spacing

- [Voiceover] In the previous movie, we saw letter spacing, tracking, and kerning all apply to a passage of text, and in this movie, I'd like to take a step back, and look at just letter spacing in isolation. Letter spacing plays a big role in determining the density, or color, of your type. Most of the time, you do not need to adjust it, but if you do prefer your type to be slightly tighter or slightly looser, then the place to go is the justification dialogue box. This can also be incorporated into a paragraph style definition, and I'll be talking about paragraph styles in part two of this title. But here, I'm comparing the normal, that is, word spacing of 100%, letter spacing of zero, with a slightly exaggerated, tight letter spacing, and a slightly exaggerated, loose letter spacing. I should say that if you do want your type tighter or looser, you don't have to make it quite as tight or quite as loose as I'm making it here, but let's just have a look at what these values are.
