Including footnotes

Footnotes have long been the bane of many a designer's existence. How to make them, how to format them, how to keep them near the text they refer to. Microsoft Word makes footnotes easy, so people figure that InDesign should too. Of course, there's a big difference between a Word Processing Program and a Page Layout Program. With that said, InDesign does make footnotes pretty easy as, long as you don't want to do anything too fancy. I have my Roux article document open from my Exercise Folder, and I'm going to zoom in on the lower right corner of this page here to add a footnote inside this text. I'd like to place a footnote right after this word, Shepherd Fairy. This is an artist's name, and someone reading this article might want to know a little bit more about him. To add a footnote, I need the Type tool, so I'm going to double-click right where I want the footnote, and that switches to the Type tool and places the cursor at that location.
