Learn how to import and manage graphics, how to deal with embedded artwork, and how to choose which Illustrator artboard or PDF page to import.
- [Instructor] I want to show you a few tips…that I think will come in handy…when you're bringing graphics into your InDesign file.…First, I want to talk about this image…that's already in place.…Looking in the links panel I see this little icon.…That means that this file is embedded in the InDesign file,…it's a part of it.…It's 5.6 megabytes in size,…so that that it's added that much weight…to the InDesign file, which isn't a big deal.…But something to consider,…if I need to color correct or retouch this image…and I don't have access to the original image…what do I do?…I can't get at it in my InDesign file.…
Luckily InDesign gives me a way.…So in the links panel at the upper right hand corner…go to the panel menu and choose embed link.…And what InDesign is saying here is…if you know where the original is…click yes so I can forge a link to that original file.…But if you don't know where it is click no…and I'll pull it out of this file…and give you a disc file.…I'll give you an image that you can work with.…So when I click no it says where do you want to save it.…
