Importing InDesign files

Let's say you've laid out an ad, like this, or a coupon or something, and now you want to incorporate it into another InDesign file. For example, I want to take this ad and put it inside this article over here, in the upper-right corner. Well, I need to export that ad or a coupon as a PDF file first, right? Not necessarily. Instead, InDesign lets you import an InDesign file right into another InDesign file. I am going to close that ad document just by clicking on this little X button there, just to prove that I have nothing up on my sleeves when I do this. Now, I'm going to choose my frame in this document, go to the File Menu and choose Place, and then choose that ad. There it is! It's a regular INDD file. No PDF or anything like that, just an InDesign file. Now, if that InDesign file had multiple pages and you wanted to choose which page you wanted to import, all you'd have to do is turn on Show Import Options.
