This video discusses whose responsibility it is to make changes to a file, customer alterations, customer errors, and modifications for printing conditions.
- [Instructor] Of course, you'd like your job to be perfect,…but you have to expect some corrections and alterations.…Things do change, but who pays for the change?…Well, it depends.…There's something called artist's alterations,…often abbreviated as AAs.…So these are things such as design changes.…Hey, you know what, let's make that type bluer,…or correcting errors.…If you spelled something wrong,…you don't wanna be saying stop the presses.…You wanna find that much earlier in the process.…In these cases, the designer could fix the problem,…and then there's no cost except possibly to the deadline…if these are extensive corrections…or you can have the printer perform the fixes,…and there might be a little bit of cost added…to the printing job.…
And then there are printer alterations,…also called PAs.…That might include slightly changing the dimensions…of a job to fit on another press.…You might never notice the difference,…but it might enable them to run your job…a little bit earlier or a little bit faster.…They might have to create additional artwork…
