- [Instructor] It's no exaggeration to say that every professional-quality publication made with InDesign should use paragraph and character styles for text formatting. That's how important styles are for efficiency and consistency. So naturally for the ACA exam, you need to know how to create, edit, and apply styles to format type. I'll start by making sure that I'm using the Typography workspace. That way I have access to my Paragraph and Character Styles panels. And here in our exercise file, we have a text brand containing a recipe. Notice all the different kinds of formatting we have here in just a few paragraphs. The title is in yellow, all caps with a green bold drop cap. The ingredients are in green in two columns, even though this is a single column text frame, the two column look is achieved with a span and split feature, which can be used in a paragraph style.
