- [Voiceover] In this movie, I'll talk about how to use type to establish a hierarchy of information in your documents. Here are some of the numerous ways to convey hierarchy. Order, size, weight, and color. Space and proximity, or how you group things together or move things apart. I want to share with you how I was thinking about these different ways of signifying hierarchy in three different types of document. A book title page, a table of contents, and a poster. Let's look first at the book title page. This is the information that I'm working with so after digesting the information, I assigned sizes to the type, depending on what I deemed to be the most important bits of information. The book title is the first level of hierarchy. We have the subtitle and the author, which I currently have as the second level and the photographer's credit and the publisher's name as the third level.
