You already know that when you place an image in InDesign your document links to the file on disk. That way if the image on disk has changed, you can update it in the InDesign Links panel. But it turns out that you can also embed images into your InDesign files, so that there's no link to the file on disk, and that can be useful sometimes. For example, here in this brochure document from the Exercise folder, I want to embed this logo. I know the logo is not going to change anytime soon, and I just want to put it inside the program, so that I never have to worry about linking to a file on disk. To do that, I have to open the Links panel, make sure the image is in good standing, that is it's not modified or missing, and then I choose Embed from the Links panel menu. However in this case, I notice that there are two instances of this image inside this document. I don't want to embed one and leave the other one linked, so instead I'm going to click on the master file, or the parent file…
