- [Instructor] I'd like you to try out this mental exercise. I want you to think about your career story as if you're a brand new character in a book that you are writing. In other words, I'm asking you to let go of all the things that you believe about yourself and all the things that you think you know about yourself and all the things that you think other people know about you or say about you. Believe me, I know this can be really hard because especially as we get further along in our careers, we tend to repeat our story and it's easy to just stick to it. In fact, we tend to build on that story over time. And when you're kind of stuck in that place, it's really hard to see yourself clearly and take a fresh look at who you really are and how to present yourself in the best possible way to someone who doesn't know anything about you.
