Designing the drop cap

- [Instructor] With a feature article, it's common to signal the start of the story with a decorative drop cap. And also this gives us chance to just add more graphical interest to the story. So that's what I want to do here. Now, obviously the story really begins here, but the main article begins on the second spread, and that's where I want to add the drop cap. So I'm going to zoom in, and I'll turn off my guides for a moment by pressing W, put my cursor in this paragraph. Now, if I wanted a fairly straightforward and muted approach to the drop cap, I could just use the drop cap feature on the Paragraph Formatting Controls. Come over here and increase this number, and we determine how many lines we want the character to sink into the text. But I want a more graphical approach here, so that's not going to work. Instead, what I want to do is highlight that first character and cut it, click and drag, and paste it. Switch to my selection tool, double-click to fit my frame around my…
