- In this video, we're gonna look at a delivery format that's a cross between an app and a website. A Web App, with a capital W, capital A, is just a website in its DNA, but it includes some metadata which allows the viewer to save the site to their Home Screen, where it then appears as an app. So let's test this in the iPad simulator and open up Safari. It's pointing to a web page on my local host, and the webpage is giving me instructions on how to install to my Home Screen. So I'm gonna follow these instructions and add this app to my Home Screen. On the Home Screen, I have a custom app. If I open that, here's the California brochure. I can swipe through and I can use the custom navigation. If I go back to the Home Screen, my app stays there. If I were to visit this on something other than the intended device, like if I visited this on a desktop browser, it'd give me instructions on how to send it to my device.
