- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how to create tables in InDesign in preparation for the ACA exam. The first thing to understand is that tables in InDesign always exist inside text frames. And there are three ways to get tables into your layout. You can import them with text from Microsoft Word or Excel, you can convert InDesign text to tables, or you can create a table directly from the Table menu. And when you do that, InDesign creates a new text frame to hold the table. So let's try that. I'll choose Table, Create Table. In the dialog box, I can set the initial number of body rows and columns, as well as header rows, footer rows, and apply a table style. And we'll see about using table styles in another movie. For now, I'll accept the defaults and make a new table with four rows and four columns. When I click OK, I get a loaded type cursor, and I can click and drag to define the overall height and width of my table. Or I can just click, and the top edge of the table goes where…
