Create a navigation TOC
- [Instructor] One requirement of all EPUB 3 ebooks is that it has to have a built-in device table of contents. Now, that is not the same as a table of contents that might appear in the document itself, but it's embedded in the device. And there's a little extra work you need to do in InDesign to add that. It doesn't happen miraculously by itself. I have a couple versions of this ebook ECGardens queued up right now in iBooks. So, for example, if I open this one, this one has a device TOC. Do you see how when I hover over the toolbar at the top, I have a little menu that will let me open up a table of contents that's built into the ereader software or into the ereader device. And regardless of what kind of device or software program you're using, even Kindles, they all have some kind of menu command to look at the device TOC. Let's go ahead and open up this document in Adobe Digital Editions. So here is the device TOC, open up in Digital Editions. Oh, it looks kinda weird. Here we go…
