Create a device table of contents

- [Instructor] In an earlier movie, we looked at how to use InDesign's table of contents feature to build an on-page table of contents with clickable links to specific points in your document. You can also build a different kind of table of contents for EPUB, one which does not appear on the page. Instead, it appears in the software or on the device used for reading the EPUB. That's why it's sometimes called the device TOC, and in InDesign it's also referred to as a navigation TOC. And not only does it help your readers find what they want to read, it's also a requirement for a valid EPUB. So you can't sell an EPUB without having a device TOC in it. Here in iBooks, I have an example of a device TOC in this short EPUB. If I move my cursor to the top of the window, some buttons appear, and if I click the one in the middle on the left, I can see the device TOC. And there are five entries in here.
