Learn how to create a folding piece, working from the size of the flat, unfolded piece (useful when you're creating a project that will be printed in-house on an office printer).
- [Narrator] Now I want to show you a method for creating…a folding brochure when you have to work to the flat size.…So, what do I mean by that?…Let's say that your printing a brochure on your…in-house printer, so your limited to 8 1/2 by 11…letter size paper, you have to work to that and figure out…how to make that third panel that's shorter,…so it can fold in, because remember if that panel…isn't shorter, than it will buckle up when you fold it.…So here's how you build to the flat dimension,…and don't be scared of the math, but I thought I should…warn you that there is some math ahead.…
The standard short trim is 3/32", that's how much you…cut off that third panel.…You can do it with an 1/8" and that's just fine,…but I just thought you should know what the standard…trim is when your preparing for print.…Guess what, you do get to use a little bit of algebra…after high school, at least I'm gonna use some here…and you can sort of follow along,…but here's the logic of this, ignore the x,…x stands for the size of the two panels that are the same.…
