Convert type to outlines

- [Instructor] For the InDesign ACA exam, you need to know how to convert live text to outlines so you can do things like fill that text with an image. So let's see how to do that. Here in our file, we have some live text, and let's say I wanted to fill it with a photo so the image just appeared inside the shapes of the letters. The most common way to do this is to convert the text to outlines. And you can do that by selecting the text frame and choosing Type, Create Outlines. Note that this process is not reversible. You can, of course, undo and get your live text back, but there's no command to get your live text back after you've saved and closed the document. So, if there's any possibility that you might need to edit the text or change to a different font down the line, you can stash an extra copy of the live text on a different layer or on the paste board just in case.
