Combining colors
- [Instructor] It used to be common to create a logo with just two colors. Black for the type and a color for the symbol. This combination was partly born out of economy. When printing the logo, the number of colors were limited to reduce printing costs. And black was the default choice for the type because it usually resulted in the most contrast and was thus, the most readable. While the black plus one logo came out somewhat through a necessity, its simplicity also had aesthetic merits. Less is more, simpler is better. But these days, many logos are intended to only ever be seen on screen. There are no such restrictions on the number of colors and you can combine colors in your logo. To choose colors that work well together, use a color wheel to help you determine color relationships. Analogous colors are those that are close to each other on the color wheel.
