- [Narrator] You need to choose just the right wording to convey your story in the best light. There are so many ways to tell a story. How do you decide exactly how to phrase your content? Everyone's story is different, but I can give you some guidelines on how to write yours. You'll find some good tips here that you can use to help you choose exactly the right words for your resume. I'm going to show you these tips in action by showing you some before and after copy using actual resume examples. First, simplify your language. Be as direct as possible. Don't use anymore words than necessary. Second, use an active voice whether you're writing in the first person or the third person style. Use action verbs. If you can embed a measurable accomplishment in your job description, it's a great way to add value. Be consistent in your use of verb tenses and punctuation.
