- In this movie I'm going to show you how to align and distribute objects in InDesign. This works with lines, shapes, text blocks and imported artwork. In other words, you can align and distribute anything in the software. Notice that we're currently looking at a haphazard collection of tall rectangles and vertical lines. To select all of them, I'll go up to the Edit menu and choose "Select All," or you can press Ctrl + A or Cmd + A on the Mac. Notice when you do, InDesign goes ahead and surrounds all of the selected objects with a big rectangular bounding box. Also notice, these alignment icons over here on the far right side of the control panel. They end with this little icon here that has a downpointing arrowhead. If you click on it, you'll bring up a pop-up menu and by default this setting is set to "Selection," meaning that all of the selected objects are going to align to each other. For example, I could click on "Align top edges" to align the tops of all of these objects, and…
