Join Kevin Callahan for an in-depth discussion in this video Adjusting the CSS for design, part of Creating Fixed-Layout Ebooks for the Kindle.
- The CSS, the Cascading Style Sheets…tells the device how to display text in the .html document.…In this exercise, we'll be looking at text formatting.…In another video, we'll be looking at text positioning.…Amazon guidelines recommend that you use…a different CSS file for each .html page,…but it's only a recommendation.…It's not a requirement.…And, because of that, I use one long…CSS document instead of individual ones.…There are advantages to using individual ones.…It might be easier for you to manage…individual CSS for a page by page basis…because you can just include them…or not include them as needed,…making sure that you enter them or delete them…from the content OPF.…
It's also easier sometimes for the device…because if you have a page or pages…that have a lot of information on them,…and the device has to parse all that information,…it's a lot easier for an E-reader,…a Kindle Fire, or a Paperwhite to…find all the information it needs in the CSS…if it's in a small document rather than…having to go through a very long document.…
