- In this video I'm gonna show you how to add alternate text to images. Alt text not only helps improve accessibility by enabling screen reading for the visually impaired, it's also a requirement for valid HTML. And it may even help you a bit with search engine optimization. So if you wanna follow along, I'm in the Exercise Files in Chapter 6, 06.01. And I'm just gonna open up the alice HTML file in a text editor. Now looking at this top image, I can see that there is an alt attribute, but it's empty. InDesign exported an alt attribute with an image to comply with being valid HTML, but there was no content for InDesign to use. So let's fix that right now. Just gonna close my text editor. And I'll open the alice.idml file in InDesign. I'm gonna go ahead and save this into the end folder, and I'll just call this alice as well.
