- [Instructor] I've watched a lot of new users trying to figure out InDesign via the default properties panel here that you see on the right. And I felt very bad for them. Because even though the properties panel was created to make it simpler, I think because it uses a mix of so many user interface things, dialog boxes, drop down menus, fills, and it creates kind of like a hodgepodge. And maybe makes it a little difficult to figure out what you're doing. So I want to give this as a quick overview to you newbie, and casual and occasional users about how to use the properties panel to change the appearance of objects that you select with the selection tool, which is this tool right here, the black arrow. So you have objects in InDesign, obviously, you have text frames, things you drew in InDesign, pictures that you placed. On the next page, I have a table.
