358 When Paragraph Style has no effect

- [Instructor] I want to show you about a common problem that people have in InDesign and also show you how to avoid it. You can see that I have some text in a text frame here, and I'd like to apply a paragraph style to this heading up at the top. So I'll choose the Type tool and then click inside that heading. Remember, you don't have to select the whole heading or the whole paragraph in order to apply a paragraph style. You just need to have the cursor flashing in there. So now, I'll head over to my Paragraph Styles panel and I'm going to click on my heading paragraph style and then nothing happens. Now, I know this heading is supposed to be different, so what happened? Well, it's unfortunately a common problem in InDesign where you apply a paragraph style and some or all of the formatting doesn't change. But, there's usually a simple answer. It's character styles.
