376 Make cast shadows

- [Instructor] You know how to make a drop shadow right? Like I'll just select this frame on my page, come up to my control panel and click the drop shadow button. Now that's kind of bulky, but you get the idea. Fortunately you can make other kinds of shadows in InDesign 2, including shadows that appear cast, like the illusion of a 3D scene. The trick to doing these kinds of special shadow effects is to make the shadow a separate object. Now before I show you how to do that, I'm going to come down here and double click the lower right corner handle, that snugs up the frame to fit the text. And the bottom of the frame comes right up here to the base line of the text, this particular trick works best like this and when the text does not have any descenders that hang down below the base line. Now I'm going to turn off that drop shadow and I'm going to duplicate this frame by holding down Option or Alt and dragging it with the selection tool. Let's make this duplicate into a shadow.
