Hi. I'm Mike Rankin, and welcome to InDesign fx. In this week's effect, we'll see how to get not one but two great looking shiny bevels on text. There are a lot of great things you can do with transparency effects applied to text, but one limitation you may come across is the fact that you can only apply effects like bevel and emboss to text as a whole. You can't apply it to just the fill or just the stroke of text, so then you either have to convert the text to outlines, which causes its own problems with strokes or you can duplicate the text and apply separate effects to both copies and that's what we're going to do here. So I'll zoom out, I'll go to the next page of my document where I just have some live text. I'll slide it over to make room for the dialogue box. Open my effects panel. Double click at the text level and I'll apply bevel and emboss. I'll set the size to three pixels. I'll set the angle to 90 degrees and increase the altitude to 75 degrees to make for a really…
