- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to select characters, words, and paragraphs using the Time Tool, and also show you how to work with text that emanates from a specific point, which is known as point text in Illustrator. I'm going to press Control + 0, or Command + 0 on the Mac in order to zoom out from the artboard, because I'm still looking at the first one. Let's say I want to take this first line of text and turn it into a chapter heading up here at the top of the artboard. Well then I need to cut that text out and then paste it as a new text object. To get to that text, I need to use the Type Tool. Of course you can get to the Type Tool by selecting it here in the Toolbox, or you can press its keyboard shortcut which is exactly what it looks like, which is the letter T, or another way to work is to double click inside the text with one of the Arrow Tools.
