- Another rule of comic lettering that was meant to be broken is the traditional use of all uppercase characters. And indeed, with the advent of digital technology, it's possible to make a readable comic with upper and lowercase. But beware, there's a few pitfalls you want to avoid. I'll show you how to dodge them. Now, moving on to a different project to letter. And as you can see, I've set up the page with my job box, my guides, the artwork. I've even copied and pasted in a balloon from the last job. So, it's got my lettering, layer, and all my different layers set up. The difference with this job is that the writer has asked that the letter be upper and lowercase. So, let's talk about the differences when lettering in upper and lowercase. So, I'm going to move this balloon over here, and then make a copy to the left. Just so that we can compare the two side-by-side. Let's go over to the placements. All right, let's look at panel one.
