- [Instructor] Laser cutting is a fun way to make designs come to life with great precision. Laser cutting is an excellent method of manufacture for many projects. It's an effective way to cut 2D designs out of sheet materials. Once you've got a handle on the laser cutting workflow, you may be tempted to laser cut everything. While I absolutely want to encourage exploration of this fun equipment, it's not always the right equipment for your project. There are several factors that determine which method of manufacture is most effective at achieving design goals. Projects that require small, intricate geometry or lace-like designs on paper are excellent candidates for laser cutting. Due to the thin material, laser cutting paper goes very quickly. The laser can cut exact shapes smaller and more accurately than scissors could ever reach. If you need to make transparent plastic signage with frosted effects, sharp corners, and clean polished edges, laser cutting is a great choice. You can…
