I'm assuming that you have at least an intermediate level of experience with both Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. In illustrator, you'll need to understand the basics of layers, object blends, gradients. And especially the pen tool, and more. In Photoshop, you'll need to know your way around layer effects, layer masks, curves, blend modes. Just to mention a few. So if you're new to Illustrator or Photoshop, I'd recommend that you check out lynda.com's beginner courses on Illustrator and Photoshop, before moving on.
