Discover what Illustrator is used for, and who uses it.
- [Instructor] So many of the descriptions of what Illustrator is fall short, I think, of its true capabilities. And to give you an idea of what people are making in it, I've brought us to this Behance gallery, which showcases work made in Illustrator. And you can see here, it is so much more than the charts, logos, and diagrams that people think the product makes. It's an amazing piece of software and it is very, very versatile.
It's used by illustrators, hence the name, and graphic designers, and also UI and UX designers. It's used by VFX artists. It's used by product designers and so many others. Its native graphics are vector-based and therefore resolution independent, which is a stark contrast to those made in Photoshop, for example, that uses a pre-defined grid of pixels. And in the multi-screened world in which we now live, things that can stretch and expand, I think, have a clear advantage over images, not that they're going to go away, but for interfaces and things like that, Illustrator is the number one choice.
Well, whatever you intend to use it for, this course is designed to get you interested in and up and running with Illustrator, by getting you familiar with all of the program's essentials and setting in good fundamentals in which I am a firm believer. So even if you're not a total newbie, there is stuff for you to discover in here and if you are a newbie, then you're going to learn without too many, or indeed any, hopefully bad habits.
You'll discover that it is a really, really powerful tool. And let's get you up and running as quickly as we can.
