Practice creating and applying custom brushes in Illustrator while designing a full-size, Sherlock Holmes–inspired poster.
- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm Kevin Stohlmeyer, an Adobe certified instructor, and welcome to Designing a Poster with Custom Brushes in Adobe Illustrator. In this course I'll show you how to create a Sherlock inspired poster in Adobe Illustrator using custom brushes, based on actual graphic design tools. First, I'll show you how to create clean resources for scanning and how to clean them up in Adobe Photoshop. Next, we'll import these images into Adobe Illustrator and convert them into Art Brushes. Then, I'll walk you through the steps to creating my Sherlock inspired poster, using our newly created brushes.
And finally, we'll add some finishing touches using text, and prepare our file for print by adding in bleeds, and masking out any excess art. There are all sorts of great options available when using custom brushes, and I'm excited to show you how to bring this work flow in to Adobe Illustrator. So let's get started.
- Scanning and importing source files
- Creating art, brush, and symbol texture brushes
- Building the design
- Adding text and texture
