From the course: Designing Icons for the Web
Welcome
- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm James Williamson, Senior Author at Lynda.com, and I want to welcome you to Designing Icons for the Web. In this course, we're going to focus on the theory and practice on what makes a quality icon. We'll start by looking at a broad overview of icons, and what makes them effective, and then, move onto the planning process. There, we'll explore effective sketching, how to brainstorm idea, and how to find just the right metaphor. Then we'll go hands-on, as we design a set of icons that are designed to work at higher resolutions, and then tackle the process of creating variations of them that work equally as well at smaller sizes. Finally, we'll take a look at exporting our icons to multiple file types and discuss optimizing SVG output. I love working with icons, and I can't wait to show you how much fun it is to design icons for the web.
