In this movie, I hope to give you a sense for how path finder operations work.…By comparing what is possibly the most common operation, unite…to its open path equivalent, which is the Join command.…So I've got this collection of shapes here…that's based on the animated movie, Yellow Submarine.…And you can see that I've got a bunch of…pipes at top here, all of which are filled differently.…But they're all based on this orange shape.…So I drew it first and…then I scaled it to create the yellow shape.…And then I made some further manipulations for the other two.…
I'll go ahead and press Ctrl or Cmd+Z a few…times in order to put those guys back where they belong.…I want to fuse these shapes together with the submarine shape.…And this is a perfect use for the Unite operation because…it can accommodate as many path outlines as you throw at it.…Especially if they're closed paths that overlap each…other, like these here.…So I'll go ahead and marquee these paths with the black arrow tool.…I did not select the water in the background because it's on a locked layer.…
