One of the most important elements of any design is the type. In this movie, you and I are going to explore typography, what it is, and how it affects the designs that we're creating. So, exactly what is typography anyway? Well, the technical definition is that it's the art or procedure of setting type. But in layman's terms, when we talk about typography we're talking about all of the subtle nuances and aspects of what you probably call a font. Here are some key terms that we need to know about when we talk about typography. They include fonts, leading, tracking and kerning, and hierarchy. All of these terms are things you need to keep in the back of your mind while you're using text in your layouts. First off, let's talk about fonts. A font is basically a different style of text.
