- If you're near an aviation museum, or if an airshow comes to town, you have the distinct opportunity to capture your own resource imagery. Now, here are some tips on how to take photos of the aircraft with illustrating a profile in mind. Aircraft are big bodies to shoot with a camera, and if you're too close, there will be a considerable amount of distortion. So, if at all possible, position yourself at a greater distance from the aircraft to reduce the amount of distortion on the final image. Since you will be shooting at a greater distance, consider using a larger lens. Now this will give you a closeup image while minimizing the distortion effect. Now point-and-shoot cameras are not ideal for this type of photography, because they use digital zoom, which typically results in pixelated or grainy images.
