Join William Everhart for an in-depth discussion in this video Stroke options, part of Creating a Map with Illustrator.
If your map calls for the indication of political borders like state or county…lines, you'll want to make sure that…your audience does not confuse these with roads.…One way to do this is use a dashed line.…In this video I will show you how to use…the strokes panel to develop a custom dashed line appearance.…So, here to the left of my map, I do actually have a couple of county lines.…I have created those paths using the pin tool, and I've put…them on their own layer here in the layers panel called political boundaries.…
To the far right of that layer I am going…to click this blank area to select all of those paths.…You'll note that they are more like straight lines segments.…So in using the pen tool rather than…creating curve points I just created angular points.…Now, let me zoom in on that path a little closer so we can…get a true understanding of how we're…going to develop it using the strokes panel.…First, I'm going to make the path a little larger.…So I'm going to choose my strokes panel, and I want…to expand that stroke panel to show all of it's options.…
