- [Instructor] When you first launch Illustrator, and if you're in CC 2019, you will probably be greeted with a screen that looks something like this. If it's the first time the program's been launched and you've been signed in, then you may see a couple of other graphics. But essentially, it will look something like this. And what I'd like you to do is just come over and click on the Illustrator icon at the top of the screen there to just go out to a view similar to this, which may be the view that you actually started off in.
So don't worry if that is the case. Okay, so we'll just get a few things set up here so we're all looking pretty much at the same thing. Now on the left-hand side of the screen in CC 2019, you should see a fairly simplified toolbox like the one that I've got here, and some tools are nested in small groups and I'll give you different keys to press to access them while you're learning such as V, which is the one I just tapped now to get the selection tool.
If you're seeing a more complex toolbox, then go up to the Window menu, and come down to Toolbars, and choose Basic from that list there. If you don't have this available as an option, then just go along with the advanced one, but just listen carefully for the keys that I ask you to press. Finally, I just want you to make sure that you're seeing the layout that I've got here on the right-hand side, the Properties panel, and Layers panel. You don't need to worry about Libraries for this course.
And just to make sure that is the case, at the very top of the screen, just in this area here, you may well see the word Essentials, or many other different words here. If that's the case and you're seeing something other than Essentials, please choose it from there. And then go back to that list and choose Reset Essentials which'll make sure it's at the default workspace. And that's it. We're ready to go.
