Setting up a start file

- [Instructor] I think this chapter is the most important chapter in this course. We're going to cover how to setup a start file. It's going to increase your efficiency and consistency when drawing flats. We're going to include a template, custom workspace, guides, brushes, symbols, and graphic styles. I'll also show you how to setup custom keyboard shortcuts and actions. These are huge, huge time savers. I'll admit, I've got a really messy desk, but I make sure to keep my Illustrator workspace clean, setup, and ready to go. So let's get started. I'm going to create a new file, and I like it to be Letter size, and click Create. Now, Illustrator CC 2018 has this new Properties panel. Frankly, I'm still getting used to it myself, but it's got a few nice features. For one, if you make a mistake, and you set your file to Inches, you can click on this drop-down and change it to Points. I personally prefer working in Points.
