Setting the stage for a circle relationship visualization

In this lesson series we're going to walk through how to design a very specific type of infographic, one that visualizes the relationships between multiple parties. You've probably seen examples of this kind of infographic on the web and in magazines. It's a very common design called the radial chart, and it's often chosen because of its visual complexity. In this video we'll set the stage for recreating a multi-relationship infographic that originally appeared on onstartups.com. It's about who invested in which social networks. When you visualize a one-to-one relationship, you might use a pedigree chart or another type of graph, but when you visualize a many-to-many relationship, your graph gets a little more complicated. Many-to-many relationships are often best drawn as radial charts, using circles or ovals in order to leave room for all the characters, the pertinent data the legend, or the key that describes what's going on, and the relationship indicators, which are usually lines…
