Saving a variable-width profile
In this exercise I am going to show you how to create your own Custom Variable Width Profile that you can then employ inside of a completely different illustration. I've saved my changes as Satisfies closed paths.ai because this variable width stroke satisfies the needs of open and closed paths alike. You'll find this file as always inside the 07_fill_stroke folder. I am going to go ahead and click on the outline for the black path to select it, and now let's generate a profile from that path by going up here to the Variable Width Profile pop-up menu, click on it, and then just click on the little Floppy Disk which is of course the way we save all things these days. But it does tend to be something of a universal icon for saving things inside the Adobe products. So go ahead and click, and then you'll be invited to name your custom profile.
