Saving a continuous-tone JPEG image

I've saved my progress as Better type.ai, found inside the 12_exporting folder. And in this exercise I am going to show you how to save an Artboard as a JPEG image. So if you're working along with me go ahead and click in the first Artboard to make it active. Then go to the File menu and choose the Save for Web & Devices command or mash your fist down and press the S key. Brings up the big old Save for Web & Devices dialog box, takes a moment to generate that preview. Now go ahead and zoom in on your graphic by pressing Ctrl+[Plus] or Cmd+[Plus] a couple times on the Mac. And the first time you choose this command, Illustrator offers to save your graphic as a GIF image. Now the thing about GIF, the way that it reduces the size of your files is it limits you to no more than 256 colors. Now 256 is a big old box of crayons, but in the world of digital imaging it's nothing.
