Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Reshaping a path outline, part of Illustrator CS4 Getting Started.
In this exercise I will show you how to reshape paths by dragging anchor points…with the Direct Selection tool. We will also take advantage of a wonderful…feature called Smart Guides that allow us to align objects on the fly. …I'm working inside of a document called Hawaiian Shirt.ai found inside the Exercise Files folder.…I am going to start by zooming in on the collar. Notice that we only have half…a collar over here on the left-hand side and that the collar tapers as it moves…inward as opposing to flaring outward like a standard collar does. Q: I'm using a pressure brush with a graphics tablet while following along with this course. But when the author clicks and holds in the "Brushes and blobs" movie, he gets an expanding oval, where I get nothing or just a sharp-edged line. My brush doesn't seem to be responding to pressure. What should I do?
A: When you first install a Wacom (or other brand of) tablet, the pressure
options may not at first take hold.
After installing the tablet, try this:
- Confirm that the pressure is working in the Wacom (or other) control
- Quit Illustrator and the other programs.
- Restart your computer.
- Then relaunch Illustrator and try again.
