Planning the infographic's dimensions
Before we jump into actually laying out the wireframe for our infographic, I want to talk a little about dimensions, and what consideration should go into the dimensions of your infographics. The first thing to consider is the medium; where will this be published? Will it be published in multiple formats? And in that case, can you design it with dimensions that fit all formats, or must you keep multiple dimensions in mind when wireframing your graphic? Let's look at a few examples of layouts with different dimensions. Very commonly, infographics on the Web are used in blogs, which are, by nature, tall and skinny. You'll want to know the width of the blog you are designing for in order to conform your infographic dimensions appropriately. In this example, the blog's width was 680 pixels, but they've had no height constraint, so we built a tall and skinny infographic. Also common are infographics in textbooks.
